Matters arising/ Planning

We need to record our Voice over by Friday, the studio has been booked, all we need now is  to find a person that could do the voice overs for Lady Alina, at least 4 of us need to participate in the voice overs.

for one of our scene we need to set the castle on fire, because of the copyright laws we are not allowed to use other fire footages we decided to create the fire in after effects.

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks

First thing we did today was finalizing our Demo script.

LADY ALINA

In 1321 the Welsh Lords, angered by Hugh Le Despensers brazen behaviour in Glamorgan met my husband, John Mowbray, in secret.

WELSH LORD 1

Something must be done about Hugh.

WELSH LORD 2

We will banish him from these lands.

LADY ALINA

Outraged at the greed and malice of Hugh they decided
that they had no alternative but to go...

JOHN

To war!

LADY ALINA

John sent forth a welsh rebels army into Gower. Leading the men was Rhys ap Llwewlyn Bren.

But Hugh was not going to sit idly by and let this happen. As Llwewly  Bren continued his advance through Glamorgan the Despenser stood in defence of his stolen lands.

LLWEWLYN BREN

Charge

HUGH

Kill the traitors

ARMY

General battle cries

The two armies fight

ARMY

General victory cries

LADY ALINA

In the end Hugh lost and was forced to flee. Victorious John led a 10 day campaign sacking and finally claiming Glamorgan as his own.
But what about Hugh...?

After his shameful defeat King Edward II was forced to banish him.

Hugh, ever the villain, set sail into the English channel where he became a notorious  pirate  wreaking havoc on merchant ships.

But this is not how the story of Hugh end.

we also created an animation on the map it is shown underneath.

This map needs to be re-created because it follows a wrong road and the camera zooming is too slow.

we also started creating a boat for our last scene where hugh de spencer becomes a pirate,
this was done all in Maya.

 Andrew – Script
 Tom – Boat
Ben -  Script
Richard - Presentation

practice the presentation on the next tutorial in front of our lectures.

We need to record our Voice over by Friday, the studio has been booked.

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks

After watching our simple animation Video we decided that some scene in the simple animation needs changing, 1 of those things that needed changing was the fight scene.

We were having some difficulties drawing the fighting scene again, so we decided to act out some of the fighting scene in different angles. the result is shown underneath.

Music for battle was created and approved but it was too long and it needs to be re arranged to fit the duration of the video.

To improve our Demo and to make it longer we added a map to our second scene where (John Decides to go to war with Hugh Le Despenser) and 2 animated arrow over a map.

Matters arising/ Planning

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks

On Monday the group met at university, but because the university did not have drawing tablet we decided to each go home and work with each other through Google+ hangout, this method allowed us to share screen to see what each one of us are working on, and give tips and approval of the work, it also allowed us to comment on what each person task should be. Underneath there is a print screen of our google+ hangout.

On Monday we started drawing the finalize characters for the demo. This was done by Andrew and Tom, to do this they used sketchpad on the ArtRage software. This was then animated and added to our simple animation, which is shown underneath.

Keep in mind that our video is going to be projected onto the castle wall we created an image of the wall so it would help us to identify where our animation should be placed.

Creating this simple animation helped the group in many different ways; first it helped us to have a good idea of how our final demo would look like and also helped us to identify the problems and the faults with our demo which allows us to improve our video.

for the scene where Hugh le Despenser decides to go to a war we need to finish polishing the 3D table and 3D candle.

Continue to finish creating a simple animation using the storyboard to see a draft of the video.

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks

On Friday we got on with finishing up the simple animation, it was a tough task because, we faced a lot of problems during the animation.

One of those problems was the speed of the movements, to overcome this problem we created a shot list where we wrote the movement time on it.

Allocation of tasks to specific group members
  • Richard –  vectoring the drawn character in Photoshop
  • Ben – create battle sound effects
  • Andrew – Drawing character
  • Tom – vectoring the drawn character in Photoshop + creating 3D candle and 3D table

we need to finish creating a simple animation using the storyboard to see a draft of the video.

We need to add sounds to the simple animation.

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks
the group decided to create a simple animation using the storyboard to see a draft of our final video. we started by drawing the character onto the piece of paper. Andrew draw about 16 different drawings that needed to be animated, 4 of the examples are shown below.

We then scanned the characters and opened the drawing on Photoshop, we used the pen tool on Photoshop to turn the drawing into a vector based. This method was done 16 different times.

the next step we took was animating it, we did that by taking the vector based images in flash and creating a simple animation, an example of this is shown underneath.

We then put every animated clips together using Premiere pro and added sound effect to the clip to see what it would look like.
Allocation of tasks to specific group members
  • Richard – scanning + vectoring the drawn character in Photoshop
  • Ben – create battle sound effects
  • Andrew – Drawing character

Matters arising/ Planning

figure out what program we going to use to animate the 2D animations.

create battle scene sound effects.

act out some of the scenes written to get an idea of how our storyboard should look like.

storyboard is essential and we need to finish it by Friday and then the group needs to start certain animation.

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks

first we wrote a rough story line
  • Cool abstract sounds
  • Start with narration
    • Oystermouth, (dramatic pause) a castle sitting derelict for over 600 years(second pause), situated along the coast of the Gower peninsula. Although a place of military significance and power during the 12th and 13th century, the history of the castle is short lived by its inhabitants. Some say that the residents of the castle still live in within the castle walls in an ethereal state.
  • Start with appearance of White Lady ghost
  • Ghost of White Lady comes out of wall
  • Introduces herself and starts with retelling her tales
    • I am Lady Alina de Braose (pause), daughter of William de Braose 3rd and wife of John de Mowbray 1st. I was born in the Gower in the year 1291, to a family rife with debt. My father, William de Braose 3rd had lost money due to war costs, and inherited lawsuits left our family penniless.
  • Start William is bankrupt
    • Tragic character
    • Father used to oppress his tenants by extorting them by inventing credulous lies which would lead to prosecution and eventually fines. But this lead too many court cases lead against our family and eventually father had to appear in parliament to explain his actions.
  • Lady Alina gets married to John de Mowbray. 1298
  • Hugh le Despenser becomes Lord of Glamorgan in 1317
    • He swindles land from Isablellas two brothers which leads to their imprisonment.
  • William desperate, sells castle deeds to Hugh Le Despenser (lady Alinas inheritance).
    • Sold in 1321
  • Edward II is angry with William as transaction occurs behind his back.
  • Welsh revolt with the barrons. And John against Hugh the dispencer.
  • They wind and Parliament Hugh le Desepser is banished and becomes a pirate.
    • Raid Glamorgan and take over the area
    • Claims castle
  • Edward II marches to battle them
    • John had fled to North (with the earl of lancaster and herraford) but looses to the King (who attacks.
  • John is executed. (with earls
  • Lady Alina flees but is imprisoned in 1322 along with her son.
  • Isabella declares war on Edward II and Hugh le Despenser
  • Teams up with Welsh rebles and barrons
  • Edward and Hugh flee to South Wales
    • Cant raise an army
  • Edward and Hugh captured.
  • Hugh is executed 1326.
  • Edward II is imprisoned.
  • Edward III becomes king and release Lady Alina and her son released in 1327.
  • They return to oystermouth, remarries and dies.

Castle
We found out that inside the castle is open so we decided that 3 members of the group should go to the castle. While we were there we took a a lot of pictures of the castle for referencing, we also acted out the fight scene that was already written, while the rest of the group stayed behind and worked on the storyboard for the story line. As we were coming in Inside the castle we took a picture of the entrance of the castle.

The video we create is going to be presented onto the castle wall, Our group need to realize that the video needs to look good while its being projected onto the wall. The wall that our film is going to be projected on is shown underneath.

This is apparently the room that Lady Alina the (white ghost) died in, the rumor has it that she was suffering a  lot, and she asked her priest that she wants to be free from all her problems, and few days later she was found dead  in this room by the priest.

This is the king's room

Allocation of tasks to specific group members

Richard – storyboard
Ben – create battle sound effects
Andrew – storyboard
Tom – Create one 3d model (basic)
Amir – Edit the acted out videos

Matters arising/ Planning

The paintings would have to be created in separate elements to allow individual pieces to be moved separately. Use planes to create depth.

We need to create a more accurate time line or at least the time line we are going to use.

Need to go to the castle to have a look around.

Discussing the personality of Hugh le Despenser, how much should he be like a pirate.

A lica reel is essential and should be the groups main priority. This is to be completed on Thursday

Work in progress/ Status of ongoing tasks

Underneath you can see the final result of our concept art, we decided to go with a painting style because it has an old theme to it, which would fit what we want to achieve.

Script drafts have been created.

3D bust of Hugh le Despenser created.

The group worked on writing down the story to get a clear idea of what. Then the group started working on creating storyboards.

Allocation of tasks to specific group members

Richard – Storyboard
Ben – Storyboar
Andrew – storyboard
David – Storyboard
Tom – Create one 3d model (basic) of either Hugh le Despenser or the White Lady
Amir – Storyboar
